Sustainable Transportation with Davis, Berkeley, UCOP, and San

Hey Santa Cruz, Ho Santa Barbara, the MoveUC crew has powered
through, with lots and lots of pedaling, to UCLA and UCRiverside. So
What is happening on these campuses? Well, more growth for sure, but
also, a move to establish a bike system on campuses built without
facilities to serve people who like ourselves, were arriving to campus
by bicycle.

| We made it to the top floor! Todays meeting was with the real
big wigs- Lori Hoffman and Jack Zimmerman. These folks, usually
occupied with planning the massive growth and development of our
campuses, took time to discuss making transportation sustainable.
Clearly, this IS an issue of prime importance to us all. Together we
strategized how to make this happen. |

| In the Northwest section of UCSB campus, surrounded by Wetland,
Storke Playing Field, and the Garden and Greenhouse Project, (Community
gardens) is situated a gravel parking lot for use by freshman who are

paved (they planned to use non-previous asphalt, not hand knotted rugs) and expanded which

| Day 4 - Touring around San Francisco all day long, taking some
of the nations best public transportation, avoiding some of the nations
most expensive parking spaces -our group recieved the royal treatment
from the UCSF staff. We started with a meeting at the TSP-
Transportation for a Livable City, conveniently located right by a BART
and MUNI (both subway stations) hub. Over some coffee and pastries
(Thanks guys!) we discussed the growing movement to make college
campuses in urban settings embrace public transportation, or as we like
to see it -mobility on a human scale- safety in bicycle routes,
usability of transit corridors, and beauty -livability- of walkways. |

As many of you know a national coalition youth/student clean energy coalition has been in the works for several months now.
Last month Marcia Winslade, UCSC, Tylor Middlestadt of Cal Poly SLO and
Myself traveled to Washington DC to meet with representatives of 14
other regional and national student organizations and coalitions
working on campus energy issues. After two days of intense meetings we
came to consensus on a unified vision for a North American Youth, Toronto bankruptcy and
Student Clean Energy Coalition. Cultural awareness and education through au pair nannies.
